For over a decade at Wantirna Vet Clinic, I've witnessed their motto 'kind hearts, gentle hands' in action. Alison and her team provide top-notch care, making pets feel like family. The clinic's advanced facilities ensure excellent surgical care. The staff, from receptionists to vets, are exceptionally caring and informative. Definitely the best vet clinic in the area, highly recommended.

Having been with Wantirna Vet Clinic for 6 years, we've consistently experienced their professional, caring approach. Dr. Alison and her team are superb, offering personalized, honest care for our cats. The clinic's modernity, especially the cat-friendly room, makes each visit less stressful. Their unwavering dedication to pet health and welfare is truly commendable. We deeply appreciate their top-quality, compassionate service.

After a disappointing experience at another clinic, I turned to Wantirna Vet on a friend's recommendation. The difference was striking: Wantirna's team showed far more compassion, care, and empathy. Ideal for complex animal care, their staff are not only skilled in treating animals but also excel in empathizing with pet owners. I wholeheartedly recommend Wantirna Vet for their exceptional service and human touch.

Had a consultation with Alison today and she was amazing! Really knowledgeable and attentive. Best part about this clinic is that there's a vet nurse in the consult with you taking notes so your vet has time to look at your pet!

Jodi

Receptionist and Admin

Jodi has been at WVC for 1 year. She loves her job because no two days are the same, plus she gets the opportunity to share cuddles and treats with the patients.

She is mum to a beautiful Pomeranian/chi called Indie and is about to become the proud mum of Shelby, her new Calico kitten.

Working at the Wantirna Veterinary Clinic for the past year has been a great opportunity. I have been able to challenge myself and learn new skills. Our team is very close knit and while we are focussed on providing the best service possible, we can also have a good laugh together. As an animal lover, I really enjoy greeting every pet that comes through our doors and getting to know our clients. The current clinic building is only 2 years old, and it makes such a difference working in a clean and modern environment with everything we need to be able to do our jobs.

A journey fueled by my love of animals and the desire for you to feel confident your pet is in safe hands…

The Early Years
1987- 1993
I graduated from Melbourne University in 1987. I worked for 4 years before starting my residency in ophthalmology in 1991. Working as a locum was a great way to increase my experience and see how different vet clinics operate. But I always kept the dream of my own clinic alive.
The Early Years
1987- 1993
Small Animal Surgeon
1993-1994
After I completed my extensive training in ophthalmology, medicine, and animal surgery I was admitted to the chapter of surgeons in small animal surgery. In 1994 I finally sat my membership examinations in small animal surgery (MACVS-Surg).

In the following years, I continued honing my skills and became a certified DELTA dog trainer. I use this training and the principles of positive reinforcement with every animal I interact with at the clinic.

Sharing My Knowledge
1995/6
I was delighted to co-author an article on ‘Iridoschisis and primary open-angle glaucoma in a Siamese cat’ in the Journal of Veterinary Ophthalmology. It sounds a bit technical, but this research gave me valuable insights into caring for unique animals that I’ve been able to incorporate into my practice long-term.

Practitioner in Residence
1998
Speaking of helping the next generation of veterinarians, in 1998 I was selected to be the practitioner in residence at the University of Melbourne. This opportunity enabled me to work with final-year vet students to help them smoothly transition into real-world applications by teaching practical tips for managing that critical first year in practice. From this, I transitioned to being a final year examiner for 8 years.

Purchased Wantirna Vet Clinic
1999 (December 5th to be precise!)
I wanted to own my own clinic since I was in my undergraduate studies. But I waited so I could find the right clinic for me. Wantirna was established in 1984. I was excited to grow this business into the clinic it is today.

New Facility
2021
Using my decades of experience, I purpose-built a state-of-the-art clinic from scratch. I wanted to be able to provide an experience where your pet feels calm and at ease throughout the entire visit. From scent diffusers to where the art is placed on the walls in the consult rooms- every element of our clinic was designed to help every animal have an extraordinary life.

24 years and counting, we are still going strong! I have a wonderful team who all help create the supportive and caring environment our clients enjoy today. It hasn’t always been easy, but my love for animals and passion for providing exceptional service have kept us going. We can’t wait to meet you and your pet!
